The education of our population is what I deem one of the most important issues in the state. The children are our future, and this states Governor and representatives are directly responsible for education grants and benefits. Consistently the current legislation has voted to take away education benefits in lieu of other much less necessary platforms. I feel that if we cannot educate our children, we need not do much else, for anything we do will be a loss for the future if our children are not adequately educated in the means to take care of what we present to them. Education should not stop at the child either. Adults need educating, vocational education, social education and more. Monies would be much better spent in the fields of education before problems arise, meaning we would not need as much money for things of corrections facilities and related fields. Jobs which would be lost over losing the enforcement funds would not be lost, only redirected. Rather than an armed guard, we would need a teacher armed with knowledge. I believe this state has went the wrong way in its attempts at helping the society and I mean to reverse that flow. Not long ago, I saw an article in the local Newspaper in Indianapolis: "State is at a loss for what to do with a $10 million dollar surplus" the subheading read this: "More education cuts to come due to lack of funding". I do not understand why no one had even thought of the idea of redirecting those funds. As long as Indiana ranks 47th in the nation for curriculum and education, I cannot possibly understand a surplus of monies that is not able to be found a place to spend them! Key Benefits
